Southern Graphics Council in Richmond, Va.

The conference started at the Landmark Theater.
The theater was huge with designs that were made by the Shriners who were the the ones that built it.
The key note speakers were Shelly Bancroft and Peter Nesbett are the co-directors of Triple Candie, a not-for-profit contemporary art venue founded in Harlem in 2001, and co-publishers of Art on Paper magazine, which they have owned since 2004. The theme of their presentation was "Print without Printers, Art without Artist".

After the openings ended. I headed on over to the VCU Fine Arts building, where the demos were being presented.

I took some photos of some of the demos I attended. That will be later.

Southern Graphics Council in Richmond, Virginia
So I arrived into Richmond around 5:30pm on Wednesday.
I got to my hotel after a $30 cab ride. Which I was fine with, the flight was very rough and bumpy.
Speaking of my hotel room. Thanks Columbia...

So I forgot to take my camera with me today.
I went to a bar called called PopInn unlike the Chicago favorite BobInn.
I had a couple of drinks from a beer called Lucifer.
I had a really good burger that was covered with bacon and guacamole.
It was called "The Juan". I bit racist but I was hungry.
After dinner I came back to my hotel room to drop off some stuff. After a bit i went wandering and came across a bar that had a really bad cover band playing. But the drinks were cheap so I stayed. The highlight of the bar was the fight between two of the bartenders.
Oh, entertainment.

Tomorrow I will bring my camera. I promise.

Glenn Branca is seeking 80 guitarists and 20 bass players for his
upcoming performance of "Symphony No.13 (Hallucination City)". This
performance will be in Seattle on May 16 for the Seattle Art Museum’s
Party in the Park, a fundraising event celebrating the museum’s 75th
Anniversary.
There will be two rehearsals on May 14th and 15th from 11:00am to 9pm
on both days. And a sound check on the afternoon of May 16, prior to
the performance at Olympic Sculpture Park.
It will not be possible to pay so all musicians must volunteer their
time, but food and drink will be supplied at all rehearsals and the
performance.
All musicians will need to be able to read standard staff notation
and follow a part measure by measure.
For more information contact glenn@glennbranca.com and you will be
sent a detailed info sheet.

Again I shoot myself in the foot. I had allot of difficulties with this print. I was using a new vacuum table and I believe that the air flow was somehow locking the ink in the screen. Not sure if that's true or but I did put glycerin in the black and white ink and it still locked in the screen on occasion. If you don't know ink locking in the screen is not good. It is drying in the screen.

Anyhow to the print and the other problems I had...
I printed 115 but only 85 are usable which is fine with me.

Info about the bands.

Lair of the Minotaur
They have a new record coming out. It's a concept record about "solving problems with a big fucking axe." I think that pretty much says it all.
Today is the Day

Mouth of the Architect
yes, I complete screwed up their name in the print.

Complete Failure

So I was making sure I spelled Lair of the Minotaur, I missed the typo in Mouth of Architect.
But I was making this print for Lair of the Minotaur. I was trying to make it fit them rather than the rest of the bands.
