Opening reception Friday June 20th, 6-10 pm

So this is my print for the "A La Carte" show at Signed & Numbered in Salt Lake City, Utah.

My mini-food print is about diners and my basic love of them. This is the actual four color print. Below is the the digital version. I very happy with the end result. The print came out with allot of texture and it looks great on the chipboard as well.

After looking at how Signed& Numbered is set up. It's similar to the idea of what I want to do in Chicago. Gallery/print shop/store. But that's later.

This was the first idea for a poster. The idea of a woman and a clown seem funny to me. But it just didn't seem to work out right in the end. The bands are metal bands and this seemed too "jokey" to represent the bands. I still like the image and might do something with it in the future. But not right now.

So after brain storming and listening to the bands that are playing the show. I decided to try to make a "metal" poster.

This is a starting point of what I came up with. The type is not done or even close to how I want it. But it was set off as a proof to give the band an idea what direction I was going.

The print is going to be 2 colors on French paper. Either Brick Red or Olive. Not sure which yet.

My last visit to Austin, I was lucky enough to go to The Austin Museum of Art. The museum had and exhibition entitled LeWitt x2.

Information provided by AMOA:

This two part exhibition focuses both on the artworks of Sol LeWitt and on his personal collection of contemporary art. Sol LeWitt: Structure and Line documents the full arc of the artist's career. Renowned for his contribution to minimalism and conceptual art, LeWitt's pencil drawings, brilliantly colored gouaches, and "structures" made of wood, aluminum, and fiberglass have defined and pushed the limits of art-making for over forty years. Throughout his career critics have admired how his work synthesizes left and right brain creativity and provokes both intellectual and emotional responses. Selections from the LeWitt Collection showcases works by an exciting array of national and international artists including Alice Aycock, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Alighiero Boetti, Chuck Close, Gilbert & George, Hans Haacke, Eva Hesse, On Kawara, Shirin Neshat, and Robert Ryman.

LeWitt x 2 has been organized by the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.

I, myself had never seen any of Sol Lewitt's work in person but as an admirer; there was something that clicked in my head. I truly had more of an understanding his process and work. Plus the added bonus of his collection of other artist work that he had acquired, for me, made the exhibition a successful venture. I also got the book for the exhibition. That's how much I enjoyed it.

Plus an added dividend about the trip to AMOA. They have two Richard Serra prints in the lobby. Again, I had never seen his prints in person before. To see the amount of embossing and texture he got from the long etching times was quite impressive.
